Happy new year from me and Beanie! Here are some updates from our little team about our therapy dog Beanie; AHM, HCF and Medibank counselling; and some other bits and pieces.
A Beanie update
*Bit of a trigger warning here – this news discusses a dog injury. Everyone’s fine, and you don’t need to read on.*
This is a hard story to share, but one with a happy ending!
In December, my partner and I headed overseas for a long-awaited trip to visit family. A few days into our trip, Beanie was hit by a car in a horrible accident involving terrible timing and a door we didn’t know she could physically open herself. (Rest assured, this set up has since 100% changed.)
During the first 48 hours, we spiralled through plans to jump on a plane immediately, concern about being unreachable, and an absolute haze about how serious her injuries were. Thankfully, Beans had amazing emergency care from her vets and our family members back in Australia, and we just kept on hearing good news after good news: scans kept coming back relatively clear and reports of no internal organ damage. Bloody incredible for a dog who tried to round up a van like it was a big cow.
All in all, she ended up with a fractured jaw and some doggy braces, and she’s healing super fast. Although she’s missed her chew toys over the last few weeks, she’s enjoyed plenty of cuddles and I think she considers Sloppy Dinner a delicious time-efficient upgrade (judging by tail wag count). If you saw Beans, you’d recognise her as her happy, energised self.
P.S. She also celebrated her 5th birthday this month! 🎉

These private insurers have higher thresholds for practitioners, but thankfully I hit those last year and the admin gods have just finished processing all the details.
If you’re with any of these health funds and have mental health counselling included in your cover, you may be eligible for counselling session rebates.

An update on our office location
After deciding to upgrade at the end of last year, we’ve moved out of our Maroochydore office and are currently doing sessions via Telehealth. The original plan was to hit the ground running with a new lease this year, but with Beanie’s recovery we’re taking it a bit slower at home. You’re welcome to book a session online, and stay tuned for location updates later on.
